Yesterday we pointed out that there was a significant amount of Google searches for “Sherlock Holmes” and “Sherlock Holmes Movie.” From this data we made the following statement :
It will be interesting to see what the box office results are for this movie; the Google trends indict that it is likely to be a smash hit.
Today we learned that Sherlock Holmes had the best Christmas Debut ever with sales of $24.9 million. The trend continues to show great interest in this movie so do not be surprised to hear about a huge weekend from the Warner Bros film. By simply doing some research on Google trends you can greatly predict the outcome of many events. Some analysts have even started to use it to predict winners of shows like Survivor and American Idol. We will dig deeper into this idea sometime in the near future so stay posted!
