For the savvy Internet users out there you know the battle that has been going on between Digg and Reddit for quite some time. Digg was the first one on the block when it came to social bookmarking but Reddit has gained a strong allegiance. Over the last few years it seems that Digg has seen its popularity come and go while Reddit continues its push higher. The Google Trends chart comparing the two websites clearly illustrates that Reddit is catching Digg in search volume.
At the current pace it looks as if the search term Reddit will overtake Digg sometime in late 2010 or early 2011. This would be a huge victory for Reddit and its users who have a strong distaste for Digg and their strict guidelines. We will keep you updated as this story continues to develop.
