GMAC Gets $3.8 Billion in Bailout Funds – Third Government Bailout
Today we learned that GMAC will get approximately $3.8 billion in government bailout funds. This goes to a company that has already been bailed out twice. The auto and home lender continues to report losses from the bad loans on their books. This comes as no surprise as there has been a steady decline in the number of searches for this company on Google. Obviously this is not the only sign that this company is struggling but it is definitely something we need to look at. The Google Trends Chart for GMAC clearly shows that the number of searches for this company is falling significantly.
With a new year rolling around it will be interesting to see if GMAC can clean up their books and find a way to make a profit. After three bailouts they need to get their act in gear or they are going to get purchased for a very cheap price from a competitor.
