The 2010 US Open golf tournament tees off tomorrow at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The last time the US Open was held at Pebble Beach Tiger Woods won by a record 15 strokes as he was the only golfer under par with an impressive 12 under par. Many of the competitors admitted that they were just playing for second play.
This year we are seeing Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson the early favorites going into the first round but that will change greatly after the first 18 holes are played. When a major championship is on the line Tiger Woods always plays better and he is going to have to at this tournament as he has not been playing that well.
Phil Mickelson has been playing very well in 2010 but he often puts too much pressure on his driver. There have been many tournaments in which Phil has taken out the driver when he should have used another club selection. This could come back to haunt him at the US Open.
Over the next four days we will get to see the best players in golf play one of the most challenging courses in the world. It will come as no surprise to see the winner of the US Open over par as the USGA always works very hard to make sure the US Open is a true challenge.
With Tiger Woods looking to get his game back on track and Phil Mickelson looking for his first US Open victory it should be an exciting four days of golf at the Pebble Beach Golf Links this weekend.
