Yesterday Phil Mickelson struggled greatly at Pebble Beach Golf Links as he did not have one birdie on the first day of the 2010 US Open. That type of play greatly changed on day 2 as Mickelson shot a five under for the day and is currently tied for second place at one under for the tournament.
While many competitors were struggling to make putts Phil Mickelson was putting his putts in the bottom of the cup for much of the second round of the US Open. Many analysts felt that Phil Mickelson had his best chance to win the US Open this year as Tiger Woods has been struggling and the stars have aligned for Phil.
With a strong day on Saturday Phil Mickelson could put himself in contention to win the 2010 US Open. It will be very interesting to see how the greens are late in the day tomorrow as many competitors feel that it is better to play earlier in the day as the greens are number as bumpy.
If Mickelson can put together another great round he would definitely be considered the favorite going into the final day of the US Open on Sunday. When Mickelson is in contention he has played very well as of late as his middle game continues to be the best in the game.
Tiger Woods continues to struggle to find his game as he four over but that is good for a tie for 25th. If Tiger can put together a very impressive day on Saturday he may be able to put himself in contention on Sunday as well. The weekend at Pebble Beach Golf Links should be very interesting.
