USA Soccer Team Comes Back for 2-2 Tie with Slovenia; England Ties Algeria at 0-0

The USA soccer team struggled greatly in the first half of its game with Slovenia as it found itself down 2-0 and on the brink of elimination of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  With their backs against the wall the USA put its best foot forward and scored two goals in the second half.

Late in the second half the United States put a third goal on the board but it was taken off due to a very questionable offsides call.   When the analysts looked at the review of this play it was very difficult to find the United States player offsides.  Needless to say the USA came back from an 0-2 deficit to tie the game.

With the second game ending in a tie it was the case that the United States needed a tie or loss from England in their match with Algeria.  If England won the game it would be very difficult for the US to gain enough points to get through the group play round and advance to the round of 16.

England has greatly struggled in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and that was evident today as England could not put a goal on the board against Algeria.  With a 0-0 tie it is now the case that the United States and England are in a two way tie for second place in Group C.

Over the next week we will be able to better understand if the USA can get through group play.  The best the United States can do is win in their next match versus Algeria which in turn will give them a very good chance to advance to the round of 16.  If England ties or loses and the USA wins then it will send the Americans to the next round.
