Roger Federer Ousted From the 2010 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament in Round of 16

Today Roger Federer was defeated by Tomas Berdych in four sets.  This is the first time that Tomas Berdych has advanced past the round of 16 at Wimbledon and it is the first time Roger Federer has been defeated this early in the tournament in many years.  For the last decade Federer has owned the grass courts of Wimbledon.

There may have been writing on the wall early in the 2010 Wimbledon tournament as it took Roger Federer five sets to advance past his first opponent.  Not only did it take five sets but he had to come back from being down two sets to zero to win the match and advance at Wimbledon.

Federer had a streak of 23 consecutive Grand Slam semifinals before being taken out early at the French Open earlier this year.  This is the second consecutive Grand Slam in which Federer has not advanced to the semifinals.  Many tennis analysts and pros are wondering what the future holds for Federer.

Now that Federer is greatly struggling many fans feel that Raphael Nadal has a great chance to put his best foot forward and become the best tennis player in the world.  He currently holds the #1 ranking and he can solidify his ranking by winning the 2010 Wimbledon tennis tournament.
