99ers Unemployment News – No Insurance Benefits Extension for Jobless and Struggling in July 2010

July 28, 2010
By

It is quite crazy that the term 99ers has grown in popularity as some Americans have sat on unemployment for over TWO years.  At this time there is no up to date news for 99ers on unemployment.  When searching on Google after typing in 99ers “unemployment news” follows.  This means that this is a phrase that continues to get searched over and over.  There is no insurance benefits extension for the jobless and those who claim to be struggling in July of 2010.  Another extension is just going to enable more Americans and sit around without a job.

While there are definitely millions of Americans who cannot truly find a job there are also many that can but just do not want to put forth the extra effort.  Over the last several months I consistently see signs saying “now hiring.”  This is not just every now and then, this is every time I go out and grab a bite to eat.  With that being said, that would take the unemployed actually getting out and taking some initiative.  For some reason I just do not believe that will happen; prove me wrong!

My opinion on unemployment and the extension of unemployment insurance.

Hey Julie, what world are you living in? What town do you see “now hiring” signs every time you go to out to eat (my, my you must be working cause it sounds like you go out to eat quite a bit. Good for you, I am impressed). My wife has been out of work for two years now. Works her ass off looking for a job everyday and yet no takers. None! So who are you kidding? Your comments about “what it would take to actually get the unemployed out looking for a job” is taken as a slap in the face to those who do what they are supposed to do to find work. You disgust me to think that people, in this economy, want to sit on their ass and collect unemployment. No baby, we want work and we want a congress and goverment that will support those who have all done the right thing in their career and yet are now being put down by people like yourself. Look in the mirror sweetheart and take a deep breath before you bash people who actually need the help. Hitting below the belt when one can’t defend themselves is disgusting. I pray that you, even with your “look at me I am great” attidude, never has to go through the crap that the unemployed have to go through today. God bless the 99ers!!!!

Well, I am sure you are trying very hard to get a job, but I know at least 5 people on unemployment who will not work because “it’s not worth it.” For them to actually have to get up, go to work and improve themselves they will not make as much as they would off an unemployment check. While I know this is not everyone, you’d be surprised at how many people are saying this.

    Miss Julie,

I would appreciate it if you don’t generalize all of us who are collecting unemployment. I would like to know what the hell kind of a job do you have and if your company is hiring. I’ve sent over 2,000 resumes to companies in 12 different states in the last 14 months, and I can relate to those who say that there are a dozen unemployed for every job opening.

My ex co-worker who used to work on wall street has resorted to becoming an escort because she needed to make ends meet, how about them apples?! I bet your husband is taking real good care of you if you have one, not all of us are that fortunate you know. But then again not every guy has the option of marrying into wealth.

In either case, I hope one day you will consume some humble pie the day you find yourself on the other side of your views. I am not a 99er yet, but despite holding two Bachelor degrees, I am back in school for a career change and cautiously optimistic that I would come out of this slump as a more marketable job prospect.
Hence it won’t be long before I’m a 99er if things don’t improve.

I am a registered republican and has voted such the past 10 years, but my views are more consistent with libertarians. Thus I wouldn’t take such a hard line stance on those who need help going back to work in such a manner that they would be able to sustain themselves without an unemployment check.

The politicians in D.C. should enable a favorable business climate so the employers in turn would focus on increasing capital, expand, and HIRE more workers, but instead the opposite is happening.

But until that day comes, unemployment compensation is a means to sustain oneself until one finds work again. And 400 a week doesn’t amount to much after the bills are paid, but if one makes better decisions with the money they have, it can tie over for the time being. But living off of unemployment isn’t as gracious as you make it out to be based on your previous posts.

    I’m done.

“I bet your husband is taking real good care of you if you have one, not all of us are that fortunate you know. ”

Oh, so just because I am a woman who isn’t on unemployment I married into wealth huh? Thats quite funny that you say that as you do not consider the fact that I have worked my rear end off since I was in high school. I paid my way through college, avoided the drinking and partying scene as I have not had ONE beer in my life. I worked while going to school and now I am being rewarded for it. No, that does not register. Of course those who have a job have either married into money or are “lucky.” Well, I do not believe in luck either but GOOD LUCK with your who unemployment benefits and thank you for the encouraging words as you just pushed me to work a few extra hours of the weekend; once again, it takes sacrifice and hard work to not be unemployed. That is something MANY MANY unemployed Americans do not have!

As always, I was out and about earlier today and saw several “now hiring” signs. Its ok though guys and girls, I will be sure to post pictures of these signs so you can see that there are jobs out there if you really want them.
