Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits Extension – Will It Pass Asked by Many 99ers Seeking Government Assistance
A recent comment about the Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits Extension says it all
“You are right on a number of points. Reading the posts of the so-called “99ers” gave me the impression that they have become a group of desperate people who are dependent on the Government as the sole source for their subsistence. What is even more scary is that they see this a a permanent set up, where the Government will continue to give people like them enough money to live on without ever working in a job again. These people no longer have any expectation of finding a job, and their writings clearly states that. Their one and only demand is permanent UI payments from the Government for as long as they live. This is not going to happen, and we see these people exhibiting all the symptoms similar to those who are hooked on drugs… narrow-mindedness, confusion of facts vs. reality, readiness to commit crimes or hurting people so they can get their “fix.” The current Administration has created this new type of “druggies” who are deeply hooked on Government handouts and see no way out. Sadly, we will probably see deaths and violence before this group of people can get over their addiction to UI.”
A tier 5 unemployment benefits extension is what many Americans are looking for and a very common question that gets asked each and every day is “will it pass?” As of right now 99ers are out of luck as they will have to find a job. While there is a great amount of data stating there there are not enough jobs out there it tends to be the case that everywhere I go I see signs for “now hiring apply within.” Well, for those 99ers who are hoping for a Tier 5 Unemployment benefits extension that would actually mean that they have to physically apply for a job.
While I know there are many Americans who are greatly struggling to find a job there are also many that continue to sit on unemployment for TWO years and soak it up. Simply applying over the Internet is not going to get the job done (no pun intended). To actually find a true job it is going to take getting out of your home and making a physical appearance at the place you desire to work. If you have sent in applications have you continued to follow up? Did you physically go to the company and ask if you could volunteer to show your desire for the job? For many of those 99ers out there I would be willing to say that this is not the case. This is not true for every single one of the 99ers but it is definitely some of the ones I know.
I urge you to tell me what YOU have done to go above and beyond to get a job to make ends meet when it comes to your personal finances.
My opinion on unemployment and the extension of unemployment insurance.

Dear Julie,
I really am offended by your comment. I am a 99er of no fault of my
own. I have gone back to school and updated my computer skills and have had three positions where I was the lead candidate, passed the back ground checks and a day or two before they made the offer a hiting freeze was imposed. Three time!!!! I try very hard to get a position to no avail.
Robyn,
I am sorry to hear about your “bad luck” as you may be one of those who is not abusing the system but unfortunately there are many who continue to sit and wait and hope that the government keeps bailing them out.

Julie Young: Tell me that you’re joking! If you have been unemployed for over two years because there ARE NO JOBS within an hour’s drive of your home, and your unemployment benefits have expired how do you expect people to keep looking for work without funding?
Should they steal a car and steal gasoline for it to be able to drive here and there only to find that the jobs are already taken, that is, if there are any jobs available!
People like you make me laugh! Without any income at all do you think people can carry out a job search? Without electricity, gas or oil to heat water to take a shower, without money to pay the water bill, without all of the things necessary to present a clean appearance to a prospective employer….how do you propose that the group that is called the 99er’s seek work?
I think that you have been smoking the silly stuff!
Julie Young: You have got to be living under a HUGE rock. I personally am tired of people telling the unemployed how well they have it by collecting between 300 and 400 per week. I have gone back to school, but I still look everyday for a job just in case one is available. I would put off my last year of school if I could find something that would pay the bills and my new 27,000 college loan. Times have changed Julie. I can’t believe that people still think that someone is living the life on 15,000 to 20,000 a year. My last job, I was a district manager with 56 employees. We lost our contract due to downsizing. My 405 per week was a far cry from what I made. IM lucky that my wife has not lost her job of 34 years. Its attitudes like yours that is keeping the people who need help from getting it. I hope for your sake you don’t lose your job because what comes around goes around.
julie has no idea how it really is out here. You say you see now hiring signs everywere. I dont know where your from but around here
the newspaper jobs adds go from a-z in 2 rows, not even a half page. Alomost every job I’ve applied for has had a long line just to fill out an app. Then when you try to call for a follow up theres a recording saying due to overwhelming response we are no longer accepting phone calls. She calls us lazy, says we “soak it up” Ya were soaking up less than half of what we were makeing when we worked. Is selling everything you own that has a value ABOVE AND BEYOND enough for you Julie?
I realize all of you may have few opportunities where you live but there are places that are hiring elsewhere. It is not always easy to pick up and move but sometimes that is what it takes to survive and prosper in life. If you have children and circumstances to make it difficult that is understandable but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.

You don’t make any sense. The problem isn’t jobs are located somewhere else, it’s that there are FIVE TIMES AS MANY JOBSEEKERS AS THERE ARE JOBS available. Until you have walked in our shoes, you don’t know what you are even talking about.
Ok Tony, you are right and you win. Too many job seekers and not enough jobs
I continue to see more and more now hiring signs. I will start taking pictures of each of these signs and posting them on here for all those who are complaining to see.
