The unemployment benefits extension has been a very hot topic over the last several months and while there is an extension for some unemployed Americans there is bad news when it comes to unemployment extension California news. In early August 2010 the 99ers of the state of California, and all states, will not see an extension for their government unemployment insurance. This should not comes as much of a surprise as many government officials have stated that there would be no Tier 5 unemployment extension.
For those who have read this site you may know exactly how I feel about the unemployment benefits extension. For most Americans 99 weeks is too long to be unemployed. While there are definitely depressed areas of the country there are still jobs available if you want it bad enough. It might not be the ideal job or even something that is “bearable” but it is still a paycheck and will put food on the table. When it comes to unemployment extension California news it will likely be the same at the end of August 2010 as it is as the beginning of August 2010; no Tier 5 extension for 99ers.
My opinion on unemployment and the extension of unemployment insurance.

Julie,
Do you claim that the under-reported number of unemployed at 14.6 million and the Department of Labor estimate of 1 job for every 5 seekers, leaving 11.68 without available positions of any level is simply wrong?
Do you still believe the in ideals of capitalism that say if you get educated, work long, hard hours being loyal to your employer, providing exceptional products and service with integrity and working your way up the ladder will provide the opportunity to purchase the right to life? Do you believe you have what you do because of what you’ve done to deserve it, and therefore believe the unemployed masses also deserve it? If so, you are an agent spreading elite propaganda and one of the middle class dividing itself to deflect attention to the real issues the United States Corporation faces.
I continue to see “Now Hiring” signs all over the place. For all of you who feel that it is impossible to find a job I will be more than happy to post a picture of each and every one of these signs. Mind you, I am not going out and actually looking for a job, which is what many of you should be doing, I am merely around town trying to find something to eat and spend time with friends.
After a weekend visit to the mountains I saw even more “now hiring” signs. While I realize not all Americans have the chance to relocate it may be in the best interest for those who have been unemployed 99 weeks. Sometimes life throws you a curveball and you have to adjust your mindset and attack with a different perspective. With no Tier 5 unemployment benefits extension likely it could be an option to move to an area that is not so bad when it comes to unemployment.
The California unemployment rate still remains above 12% and many feel that a new wave of foreclosures is sure to hit as many of the unemployed are not making their mortgage payments. They realize they are going to see a foreclosure soon whenever the bank catches up on all the individuals who stopped making their payments. It will be interesting to see when this happens but it is inevitable for many homeowners who cannot find a job.
This is sad as many of these individuals were sitting on top of the world three short years ago when their homes were doubling in value each and every year. Now it is the case that their home prices have dropped by over 50% and they can no longer make their mortgage payment. To top it all off they are underwater due to the home price drop.
This is all the more reason to do everything possible to find a job. Even if the job is minimum wage it is still worth it to get out there because you might meet someone who can offer you a better job after seeing your work ethic.
If you are a 99er or someone that has lost your benefits due to the Senate sitting on their hands. You can’t just blame the GOP. Yes they have blocked everything but there is a way to stop them blocking those issues.
To make them (GOP) pass a benefit package for the 99ers and anyone that has lost their benefits the Democrats can force them to not go home until it is done. They also blocked a Small Lending bill for small business from community banks, this was a lending bill to create jobs and didn’t add a dime to the deficit. So that needs passed before one of them goes for over a month vacation. So when I say it just isn’t the GOP it is Harry Reid also he could be tough. If he thought it is more important for those that have lost than those that have allot and are going on vacation.
So flood Harry Reids phone lines and fax machines until he gets the message. If you don’t help then you have no right to complain. Here are the contact numbers:
Washington: Phone # 1-202-224-3542 Fax# 1-202 – 224-7327
Las Vegas: Phone # 1-702-388-5020 Fax# 1-702-388-5030
Carson City: Phone# 1-775-883-7343 Fax# 1-775-883-1980
Reno: Phone# 1-775-686-5770 Fax# 1-775-686-5757
Do not call if you do not have a calling plan that lets you call anywhere in the US without being charged for long distance. Use that money for your family. The rest of us have no excuse to complain then do nothing. Remember they go home for vacation Friday the 6th so call and call and call till then. If he does go on vacation without fixing these issues then flood those state lines more. By the way I am not a 99er but believe they paid their taxes and help build our country and now need our help.
At least you are taking action! While I would suggest using this time to find jobs at least this is promoting activity and standing up for how you feel. In the meantime it would be smart to actually get out there, volunteer your time if you have to, and find the means necessary to get a job. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of extra effort to prove that you are a solid employee.
For those who have been in California and have had no luck finding a job it might be wise to consider relocating. While I know it is never easy to pick your things up and move it could be the right time to do so now. There is nothing easy about relocation but if there are jobs available elsewhere why sit in California and hope for a Tier 5 unemployment benefits extension when nothing is certain that the present time. Good luck to all those seeking a job but remember it may take many sacrifices that you never thought would have to happen.
There is a wonderful interactive map of the unemployment rate by counties in the state of California at this link:
http://www.sacbee.com/2009/03/19/1698037/unemployment-in-california.html
For those of you who are willing to move for an opportunity to get a job it might be wise to check this map out before making any decision. There are many counties in California is quite high and unless you are very confident in your abilities I would avoid those areas and seek employment elsewhere.
With no Tier 5 unemployment benefits extension likely in California in August of 2010 it might be time to start considering some changes to make your life a little bit easier.
No Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits Extension is on President Obama’s desk as of August 7th, 2010. It looks like the Senate will take recess on August 9th and there will be no financial assistance for 99ers. It looks as if the enabling is going to stop and 99ers are going to have to find jobs in the Fall of 2010.
Julie,
What does it say about the American Dream and the ideals of capitalism if families need to foreclose on their home (because the value is lower than they owe) and move across the country for a job that doesn’t pay enough to survive? All these signs you see, how much do they pay? What kind of skill level do they seek? If they pay $20,000 a year but expect college and experience, should we expect to be like India – except we pay for education then live in poverty?
Have you talked to anyone with executive experience and college education that applied at the places displaying help wanted? These people think for themselves and don’t buy into the okie-dokie employers use to manipulate employees into sacrificing family and free time for the extinct “job security”. They want people who believe all they deserve is minimum wage.
You are right that people need to interact and network to meet people and find real employment opportunities. Unfortunately, it rarely happens when you’re working a minimum wage job.
Unless you are one of the many of thousands CAlifornias looking for a job don’t open your mouth. I am 58 worked and served in the military, worked for over 20 yrs 2 jobs. I have been out of work for over 2yrs. and can’t find a job. I was laid off due to the bad econmony and the county I live in the rate is over 14% unemployment percentage. So shut up unless you have a jobs for all of these people who need them. Those signs on the post are all scams. I answered one and they wanted money before I could get a job.
You poor ignorant fools….relocate? And exactly what monies are we to use to do that? I have been searching for a job for almost 2 1/2 years….hmmmmm…1) I’m too old….2) I have too much experience to work at McD’s, Target, K-mart etc, etc
The savings are gone…believe me, one cannot survive just on unemployment…..if you have a job for me that will pay the bills and put food on the table….I’m not asking for any more than that….then please let me know
JULIE,
YOU SPEAK WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW OF! IGNORANCE!
Julie Young,
I guess you are one of the lucky few with a job right now? You do have a right to an option, but let us see how it long it will last when you lose your job. Hopefully with hardship and experience of losing your job you will truly understand and will not make any more stupid comments on line about nothing you can understand at this time.
Carolyn
