Unemployment extension Nevada news is going to cause many 99ers to be greatly upset as it is HIGHLY unlikely that by August 2, 2010 we will see a Tier 5 unemployment benefits extension for those who have exhausted their resources. With Nevada leading the nation with a 14.2% unemployment rate it should come as no surprise to see a large number of searches about unemployment extension news coming from this particular state.
For quite some time I have been strongly against 99 weeks of unemployment benefits and I remain that way. There is very little doubt that Nevada is a very depressed area but the cream rises to the top and if you truly want a job badly enough you will find one. On August 2, 2010 it will likely be the case that many people search for unemployment extension Nevada news. Instead, it may be wise to search for jobs instead.
My opinion on unemployment and the extension of unemployment insurance.

where and how are you supposed to get a job if you are looking for one you need a working phone clean clothes and so on and if people
can find a job why are they without one after tier 4 runs out maybe Ill move to pakistan!
I respect your right to be against a tier five extension but at the same time I think your position is dead wrong. It may make sense for you to deny men, women & children and condemn them to homelessness and hunger. Yes I know, there are plenty of jobs out there but for those who are over fifty there is nothing. No one wants to hire older workers because it will raise their insurance rates. What about younger workers? They better not have a degree because they will and are told they are over qualified. Why? Because employers think that when the economy picks up they will leave and they are right.
I guess the most charitable thing I can say about your position is that it is easy to harshly judge the unemployed when you are not one of them.
While there continue to be many complaints about older people not getting hired I must ask you the question “What have you done to differentiate yourself? While I know it is hard to do some of the things due to generational differences there are still many ways that older employees can prove their true worth. I would argue that the life experiences that these works have should allow them to push through and understand just what employers are looking for.
With that being said, there are definitely many workers who live in areas that have seen very high unemployment rates. Unfortunately, it may take moving or accepting a very bad job just to get back on your feet. Those who truly want to work will do exactly this. I actually know people who will NOT apply for unemployment even though they could so they find motivation to get a job.
Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Ben Bernanke had this to say about the economy yesterday:
While the support to economic activity from stimulative fiscal policies and firms’ restocking of their inventories will diminish over time, rising demand from households and businesses should help sustain growth. In particular, in the household sector, growth in real consumer spending seems likely to pick up in coming quarters from its recent modest pace, supported by gains in income and improving credit conditions. In the business sector, investment in equipment and software has been increasing rapidly, in part as a result of the deferral of capital outlays during the downturn and the need of many businesses to replace aging equipment. At the same time, rising U.S. exports, reflecting the expansion of the global economy and the recovery of world trade, have helped foster growth in the U.S. manufacturing sector.
From these comments it looks as if we are going to see modest growth but growth nonetheless. Growing of the US manufacturing sector should do some things to help the overall job market for those who cannot get a tier 5 unemployment extension in Nevada or any state.
Still no news as of August 3rd, 2010. It looks as if 99ers are going to go at least a few more weeks and possibly months without unemployment insurance checks. Looks like it is time to get out there and actually find a decent job! They are out there if you want it badly enough.
As of August 7th, 2010 there is no Tier 5 unemployment benefits extension for unemployed 99ers in Nevada. Issues remain troubling in Nevada and it may be wise to consider other options. If moving is possible there are many states that are seeing much lower unemployment rates.
Finding a good position is a game of musical chairs — and there are not enough chairs. Getting better at playing the game will not increase the number of chairs.
I am a female almost 52 years old and live in Utah. I had a great job at a law firm making $50,000/yr. I got laid off (along with others) and have gone on many interviews. I believe because of my age (even though I have a great resume and excellent ltrs of recommends) I haven’t even been called in for a 2nd interview. Utah only has 3 tiers which I am on tier 1. I will not use up my 20 weeks of tier 1 until the end of Jan. 2011. Therefore, I will not be allowed to go to tier 2 because I donn’t exaust tier 1 before November 27, 2010. So who are all these people that are qualifying to keep continuing to go to the next tier per the govt.? I think it is a bunch political bull. So many more people are out of work than is being reported, especially the people 45 yrs. and over. Our UT Sheet Metal Union has 160 men on their bench, which is the most ever. The UT govt. is trying to say that UT only has 7.2% unemployment to make you believe that UT is such a great state. Well it might be if they didn’t lie so much. They are totally misrepresenting themselves, becaase of this misrepresentation, Utah gets less Federal funding for the unemployed hurting Utah residents. Thanks govt. Who can even get tier 2 or tier 3? Almost no one I know! It depends on the dates you get laid off. That sounds fair!! I am going to lose my house, etc. We need to extend the unemployment deadlines for us that have only had a short period of time. WHO REALLY HAS RECEIVED 99 WEEKS OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN NEVADA (OR WHAT OTHER STATE)? GIVE US THE CORRECT FIGURES SO WE CAN VOTE FOR THE POLITICANS WHO DON’T SPEAK WITH FORKED TOUNGE. Just like Obama’s loan modifications. What a joke. I can’t get that either so big help Obama!! My lady friend 5 yrs. older in the same trade, homeowner, etc. couldn’t get a modification and they foreclosed on her house! HELP QUICKLY!! I am just about to give up on it all!!
I live in Nevada and I have exhausted all my unemployment benefits. Been unemployed for two years now but I was only approved for 92 weeks. What 99 weeks? Was there a requirement I did not meet or did the state not meet the requirements to approve benefits for a particular tier?
I am not simply sitting around and collecting the benefits, I am actively seeking work but there are no real jobs here. Sure, the internet says there is but when you spend some time to apply and inquire, you get no response. And four weeks later, the same job opening appears again. It is frustrating to say the least. I also fear that I am only a few weeks away from being homeless but what do you do when there is no income or no jobs.
I support the tier 5 extension because the reason for the downturn in the economy was, in part, due to the government and its legislation or lack of it. The bailouts and billions spent in the so called stimulus. The money should have been spent on the people who lost jobs.
