NYS Unemployment Claims Drop Almost 20,000 – 99ers Still Seeking Unemployment Extension in August 2010

NYS unemployment claims dropped by almost 20,000 last week as there were fewer layoffs in the transportation and services sectors.  Even though it seems as if the jobs market it getting better in the state of New York 99ers are still seeking an extension of unemployment benefits.  These unemployed Americans who have had 99 weeks to find a job have exhausted their unemployment checks and they are looking for money in the form of a government check.


There are many New Yorkers who continue to struggle to find a job but there are also many who continue to use the system and wait for a government check rather than a paycheck.  This is quite sad but it will continue to be this way as long as President Obama and his staff continue to extend the unemployment benefits package.  By cutting these people off they will be forced to find a job and do what it takes to make ends meet when it comes to finances.
